EUROPE
April 01, 2025
Today, 1 April 2025, the agreement signed by the European Patent Office and the Lao People's Democratic Republic enters into force, according to which European patents applied for after this date, once granted, can be validated in this Asian country.
Such patents will have the same effect, and be subject to the same conditions, as national patents in Laos.
This brings the number of countries in which protection can be obtained from a single European patent application to 46, including Morocco, the Republic of Moldova, Tunisia, Cambodia and Georgia, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, through the extension agreement with this country.
