Argentine PTO will request the status of the priority claimed in patent applications

Yesterday, August 26, 2024, the Argentine PTO issued Resolution No. 364/2024 which states that holders of pending patent applications that have claimed a foreign priority, whether or not they have paid the substantive examination fee and regardless of the prosecution stage, will be notified to inform whether or not the priority claimed in the application has been granted in the country of origin. If a response is not filed within the non-extendable term of 60 calendar days from the notification in the Patent Gazette, the application will be declared abandoned. All of the above, in order to reduce the backlog of pending cases and expedite the examination of patent applications.
